On the first night, each participant will get one board or round to draw out/ transfer an image to and start burning the first night.  If you don’t think you are much of a drawer, bring a design to transfer and follow!  On the second night, students will finish burning, then varnish the board and put a hanging on the back.  Students may also make a coaster or bring wooden pieces of their own to decorate (such as a cutting board, scrap wood, picture frame, box or spoon), if time permits.

Spend three consecutive afternoons making a round willow market basket with or without a handle, using willow from the instructor’s seemingly bottomless stash.   The basket will have about a 10 inch diameter base and be about 5 inches tall without the handle and 12 inches in diameter at the top.  The basket will use the stake and strand technique and participants will learn twining, 3-rod wale, French randing, 3-1 rim, and wrapped handle.

NOTE:  Please take into consideration if you have any of these conditions before you register:
    1.  An aspirin allergy could be challenging as the willow will be twisted at times and the bark  could crack releasing oils and scents that could flare up an allergy.  Willow is the original source of aspirin.
    2.  Arthritic hands could be problematic as hand strength is needed.

    Instructor:  Cathie Harper

Prerequisites:  No prior experience necessary.  Age 16 or older.  Adult full membership.
